Electrify appoints Patrick Walker as Chief Strategy Officer and AL Brown as EVP Creative and Editorial

We’re pleased to welcome Patrick Walker to Electrify as Chief Strategy Officer and Al Brown as EVP Creative and Editorial.

Patrick and Al bring experience from some of the companies that have shaped online video and modern television. They join us as we build our creator-founded brands for more formats, platforms and audiences.

Patrick was previously Managing Director, EMEA at YouTube and Director of Media Partnerships, EMEA at Facebook. He has spent much of his career working where creators, platforms and entertainment meet.

Al spent more than a decade at VICE, becoming VP of Programming for VICE Studios UK. He executive-produced series including *State of Undress* and *Gaycation*, before moving into senior roles at Future Studios and Independent Studio.

Electrify’s media brands include Veritasium, fern, Mentour Pilot, Astrum, Fireship and The Rundown AI. Together, they reach more than 65 million subscribers across platforms.

The way people watch those brands is changing. Between October 2025 and September 2026, our YouTube channels generated around 2.6 billion views and 371 million hours watched. More than 130 million of those hours, around 36% of total watch time, took place on television screens.

Creator-founded media is already part of living-room viewing. Patrick and Al will help us develop the businesses, formats and distribution needed to meet that audience wherever it chooses to watch.

Patrick will lead our work to find and partner with the next generation of creator-founded media brands. He will also develop new platform, distribution and licensing relationships beyond YouTube, working directly with creators to build larger and longer-lasting businesses around their audiences and intellectual property.

He will lead Electrify’s relationships with platforms and distribution partners as we look at new routes to audiences through streaming, connected television and other forms of distribution.

“YouTube is already a living-room medium for hundreds of millions,” said Patrick. “The opportunity now is to build creator-founded brands that can travel across every screen without losing what made audiences choose them in the first place.”

Al will work with creators and teams across Electrify’s brands to develop new shows, formats, talent and original intellectual property.

His work will include strengthening existing channels and formats, finding new creative ideas around established audiences and developing original programmes that can live on different platforms.

“A big audience isn’t a brief to make more of the same,” said Al. “It gives you permission to take creative risks, find new talent and build formats that can take those ideas somewhere audiences haven’t seen before.”

The launch of InGenius in September is one early example of this work. Developed by people from across the Veritasium and Electrify teams, the new channel takes carefully researched storytelling into economics, geopolitics and the systems shaping modern life.

“The next generation of media companies will be built around creators and teams who earn audience trust first, then have the ambition and support to build far beyond the platform where they started,” said Ian Shepherd, Electrify co-founder and Co-CEO.

Patrick and Al will work across our creator partnerships and media brands, helping turn trusted channels into companies with more ideas, more ways to reach people and more room to grow.
