Introducing InGenius, a New Channel from the Team Behind Veritasium

Today sees the launch of InGenius, a new YouTube channel developed by people from across the Veritasium and Electrify teams.

The idea grew from conversations inside Veritasium. Over the years, the team had pitched stories about economics, geopolitics and social science that interested them, but sat outside Veritasium’s focus on science and engineering. InGenius gives those stories a proper home.

The channel has been more than 12 months in development, with a dedicated team working on its editorial approach, visual identity and first group of films. Veritasium has set a high bar for research and storytelling over many years. InGenius will have to earn its audience’s trust in the same way: through the quality and accuracy of the work it publishes.

Its first film looks at how a lock designed for shipping containers helped change global trade and contributed to China’s rise as an economic power. It combines history, engineering and economics to explain how a small piece of infrastructure changed the movement of goods around the world.

InGenius has its own subject matter and editorial identity, while drawing on the experience of people who have helped make Veritasium what it is. It gives the team room to follow worthwhile stories wherever they lead.

The first film is available to watch now on the InGenius YouTube channel.
